The Season for Giving

By Brent | Nov 13, 2008

With Thanksgiving nearly here and Christmas just around the corner, I think it is important to remember that this a season of giving. I’m not talking about the presents you give to your wife or children, I’m talking about giving to others that are less fortunate. Giving is especially important in times like these, even if it isn’t a lot.

There are many opportunities to help others during the holiday season. Whether it be volunteering, giving money or gifts, or just lending a helping hand, any little bit can go a long way. It is also a great time to involve your whole family

in giving. Teach your children the importance of helping other and grow closer at the same time.

Especially in the midst of an economic crisis, it becomes more important to give to others. Charitable organizations are struggling just as the rest of us are. Even if you can’t give any money, giving your time can be just as valuable. Going down to the soup kitchen to help cook or serve, delivering Thanksgiving meals to those in need, or ringing a bell down at the nearest grocery store are great ways to donate your time.

Find a way of giving that works best for you and do it. You’ve been blessed tremendously, even if you are struggling to get by. Share those blessings with others and remember what this holiday season is all about.
