Letter to Rich Americans

Dear Rich American,

Prior to President-Elect Barack Obama getting in to office and raising your tax rate, I wanted to write and give you the chance, I mean, opportunity to share your wealth with someone that will be wise with that gift. Obama’s philosophy of sharing the wealth means the your money could be going to the less desirable characters in society and you’ll have no say in who will benefit from extra money you’ll be forced to give. Drug addicts, prostitutes, and other drains on society could be getting more of your money to help them continue to pursue their American dreams of illegal and immoral behavior. Granted, some of your money could go to those that are working very hard and just aren’t able to make ends meet, but there is no way for you to know who will benefit from your additional taxes.

You’ve worked very hard for your money and have made wise decisions to get you to where you are today. You deserve to to be able decide where your money goes. Taxes are inevitable, but when your taxes go more towards spreading the wealth, it hurts a little more than usual.

Before these tax increases kick in, why not give some money to someone that will use it wisely? Any money you give me will go towards paying off debt, paying off my mortgage early, and saving for retirement. My wife and I are currently working towards paying off our debts before we have children. Your gift will allow us to have children sooner and get a jump start on paying off our house. I have a full time job, the house I live in is modest, and we’re no longer using credit cards. I am a hard working person and will soon be in a new, higher level position that will greatly improve my career options. Investing in me would not be a mistake.

When Obama’s plan is put in to place, my tax position will stay neutral, I won’t pay any more or any less but for those that will be paying more only to support those that aren’t paying any at all, consider an investment in on that will make good use of that money.
