What is Frugality?

By Brent | Jul 23, 2009

Wikipedia defines frugality as

Frugality is the practice of

  1. acquiring goods and services in a restrained manner, and
  2. resourcefully using already owned economic goods and services, to
  3. achieve a longer term goal.

In the times we are in, it has become all the rage. Being frugal and living on less is one way that people are surviving this recession. A search on Google will return results on gardening, repurposing old items, finding bargains, making your own soaps and cleaners, and many other great resources for saving money and being less wasteful with what we do have.

My wife has been reading lots of blogs on the topic of frugality and frugal living and has started implementing some of the ideas around our house.  I must say, they are some great ideas and they are saving us money. Some as small as pennies here and there, but if you add them up the savings are significant.

If you haven’t looked in to it yet, why not start now. Find some blogs on the topic and start saving some money today! If you are an expert in frugality, or if you are just beginning, what are some of your biggest frugal living tips?
